Dr Alex Ioannidis is a highly experienced ophthalmic surgeon with over 20 years of experience performing small incision cataract surgery. He offers both conventional phacoemulsification and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) with very high success rates. Dr Ioannidis also has expertise in modern intraocular lens (IOL) technology including the use of monofocal IOLs, extended depth of field (EDOF) IOLs and presbyopia-correcting IOLs (MFIOL).

Dr Ioannidis treats complex cataract cases such as those seen in patients with coexisting eye diseases, including glaucoma and macular degeneration. He offers cataract surgery combined with other surgical procedures, which include minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) using the iStent inject system. In addition, Dr Ioannidis provides a range of treatments for patients with anterior segment diseases (disorders of the front part of the eye) using the latest diagnostic and surgical laser technology.

Other areas of interest include management of corneal disorders including keratoconus, for which he performs collagen cross-linking. He has also perfected his technique of micrograft pterygium surgery, using a biological adhesive to apply the graft without the need for sutures.

During his consultations, Dr Ioannidis discusses a surgical plan and recommends the appropriate treatment to meet individual visual needs. He takes into consideration the general eye health of the patient, in order to optimise refractive outcomes.
