Vision Eye Institute Melbourne (St Kilda Road) kicked off this year’s Continuing Education Series with an optometry CPD event on refractive surgery, held at the Pullman Hotel in Albert Park.
Dr Joe Reich took the audience on a journey through the history of laser eye surgery, showing how the technology has evolved over 30 years to improve safety and patient outcomes. He also talked about the brand-new SCHWIND excimer laser that the clinic recently installed, which is the fastest excimer laser currently available with highly sophisticated eye-tracking technology.
Dr Guy Olorenshaw then explained the process of assessing a patient for laser eye surgery, including how the surgeons decide on the specific type of vision correction procedure that best suits the patient.
Dr Abi Tenen finished the evening with a series of interesting refractive case studies. She explained how the new laser at the clinic allows for more tailored vision correction procedures for patients.
A number of other Vision Eye Institute ophthalmologists also attended the evening.
Thanks to everyone who came. We look forward to seeing you at more CPD events throughout the year.
