We are pleased to announce that Vision Eye Institute has opened a new clinic to provide specialist eye care to the residents of Jacana and its surrounds. Located just across the road from Broadmeadows Hospital, the clinic is also close to local shops and public transport, ensuring convenient access for patients.
The consulting doctor partner at Vision Eye Institute Jacana is Dr Mei Tan, who many of you will recognise from our Coburg clinic. Dr Tan is a fellowship-trained vitreo-retinal surgeon who offers specialist ophthalmic care for a range of retinal conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, subretinal displacement and retinal detachment.
She is also a highly skilled cataract surgeon and frequently combines cataract surgery with retinal operations. The clinic includes a dedicated procedure room for intravitreal injections (eye injections), a YAG vitreolysis and retinal laser, and full retinal imaging and treatment facilities. Surgical procedures are performed at Panch Day Surgery in Preston.
In addition to private practice, Dr Tan also consults at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. She is actively involved in research, with a particular interest in inherited retinal diseases that led her to complete a PhD in genetics and molecular biology. She has been a reviewer for several leading medical journals including Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology, Eye and Cornea.
The information on this page is general in nature. All medical and surgical procedures have potential benefits and risks. Consult your ophthalmologist for specific medical advice.
IMPORTANT: If you are concerned about your eyes and require an urgent consultation, DO NOT use this form. Please call one of our clinics during office hours or contact your nearest emergency department.
