Diabetic eye disease treatment in Brisbane
Diabetic eye problems include diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. It is important to have a regular diabetes eye check so that treatment can be started as early as possible to preserve your vision.
Our Brisbane eye doctors may recommend diabetic retinopathy treatment such as eye injections to prevent diabetes eye damage. Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema can cause significant visual impairment if left untreated.

Macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment in Brisbane
Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD, affects the central part of your retina. It can be categorised as either dry macular degeneration (very common) or wet macular degeneration (uncommon).
People often ask if we offer macular degeneration treatment in Brisbane. While there is no dry macular degeneration treatment, treatment is available for wet macular degeneration. Regular eye checks once you are over 50 are important for early diagnosis.

Dry eye diagnosis and management in Brisbane
Dry eye is more common in females, older people and office environments, where there is a lot of computer work and dry air due to constant heating/cooling. Symptoms of dry eye include itching, watering, redness, burning, grittiness, fluctuating vision and sensitivity to light. It is often confused with allergies.
Severe dry eye can be extremely debilitating. Although there is no dry eye cure, early diagnosis and management, including symptomatic treatment, are important.
Our Brisbane (Dr Lenton) clinic offers both traditional and newer treatments for dry eye.

Pterygium treatment in Brisbane
People who spend a lot of time outside in sunny, windy conditions have a higher risk of developing a pterygium (also called Surfer’s Eye). A pterygium is a (usually) benign growth involving the conjunctival layer of the eye. It is often fleshy and triangular-shaped.
Pterygium treatment is not required unless the growth occurs onto the cornea, where it may cause scarring and/or distort vision. If this happens, Dr Lee Lenton, one of our Brisbane ophthalmologists (eye doctors), can perform pterygium surgery to remove it.
