Fee update for our Footscray clinic

15/12/2020

Exterior of Vision Eye Institute Footscray clinic

From 1 January 2021, a fee applies to consultations at Vision Eye Institute Footscray.

This change includes appointments that have already been scheduled for 2021.

Vision Eye Institute Footscray is a private medical clinic providing high-quality specialist eye care to local residents – since 1960, our patients have had access to highly experienced eye doctors and surgeons, the latest diagnostic and laser technology, and high staff-to-patient ratios.

However, the clinic’s operating costs continue to increase (exacerbated by the current COVID-19 pandemic) while Medicare fees have remained virtually unchanged. As a result, this fee change is necessary for the clinic to continue operating.

The change to our fee structure allows us to continue providing quality specialist medical services for all patients.

What does this mean for patients?

There will be no change to the high-quality specialist care we deliver.

We are keeping fees to a minimum, but there will be an out-of-pocket (or ‘gap’) cost for all new and follow-up consultations. Pension and health care cardholders will be charged at a reduced rate and will continue to be bulk billed for diagnostic tests covered by Medicare (a fee is payable for diagnostic tests not covered by Medicare). Charges for eye injections remain unchanged.

Please note full payment is required on the day of consultation. We will then process the Medicare claim for you to receive your rebate.

Patients will be kept fully informed regarding fees prior to their appointment by phone call, SMS and/or letter. During your appointment, further diagnostic tests may be required – if additional fees apply, these will be discussed with you on the day.

Further information

If you have any questions about this change and how it will affect you, please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic on 03 9689 9233.

We thank you for your understanding.
