It was a bittersweet final day for staff at our Mosman clinic, which recently merged with our Chatswood clinic.
Vision Eye Institute Mosman opened its doors in 2003 and has been providing high-quality eye care to the local community for 20 years.
‘I have very happy memories of my time at Mosman,’ says ophthalmologist Prof Frank Martin. ‘I was there from the beginning and conducted the final clinic session on Wednesday 17 May. With me on the last day were Eileen Hollifield (Practice Manager), Opal Mai (Orthoptist) and Jo Clements (Administrative Assistant).
‘My patients and I will miss Mosman. Being a smaller clinic allowed for a lovely personal touch.’
‘Clinics were more like a family gathering, and children had plenty of space to let off steam before seeing me,’ says Prof Martin.
Ophthalmologist A/Prof Tim Roberts, who also joined the clinic at its inception, says ‘Over the 20 years at Mosman I have developed many valuable relationships with patients, local GPs and optometrists. I have no doubt this will continue as patient appointments transition to the Chatswood clinic.’
‘Providing a personal, high-quality service was a priority from day one, and the smaller, more intimate environment at Mosman has fostered this,’ says A/Prof Roberts.’
Colleague Dr David Ng agrees that the patient experience at Mosman was exceptional. ‘The clinic provided a boutique experience that was appreciated by patients. Having one doctor consult at a time meant everyone could enjoy the less hectic pace.’
Ms Hollifield is one of the clinic’s longest-serving team members. ‘There are many memories I will hold on to with great joy as practice manager,’ she says fondly. ‘Vision Eye Institute Mosman has been like my second home.’
‘Everyone was so friendly, helpful and we had many laughs,’ adds Jo Clements. ‘I will miss my days there, and going to the local sushi cafe for lunch!’
Although this merger marks the beginning of a new chapter, our Chatswood clinic patients can expect a continuity of care that upholds our commitment to delivering high-quality, best-practice patient-centred care.
Following the merger, our Mosman doctors will now see patients at Vision Eye Institute Chatswood (conveniently co-located with Chatswood Day Surgery):
