Vision Eye Institute expands to South Australia

04/11/2021

Vision Eye Institute has partnered with Eye Surgeons SA (ESSA), adding two new clinics (North Adelaide and Windsor Gardens) and three other consulting locations to our network.

‘We are delighted to bring together Vision Eye Institute and ESSA to share the best of both practices,’ says James Thiedeman, Vision Eye Institute’s CEO. ‘With Vision Eye Institute’s scale and provenance, and ESSA’s local knowledge and energy, we look forward to delivering exemplary eye care to the South Australian community.’

ESSA clinics are fully equipped for ophthalmic consultations, diagnostic testing and minor procedures. Surgery is performed at accredited facilities associated with each consulting location, including Windsor Gardens Day Surgery, a purpose-built facility managed by Vision Hospital Group and co-located with the Windsor Gardens clinic.

New doctor partner for SA

We are pleased to welcome Dr Paul Athanasiov, experienced ophthalmologist and the Founder and Principal Ophthalmologist at ESSA, to Vision Eye Institute.

Dr Athanasiov’s main areas of expertise are cataract and lens surgery, pterygium, glaucoma and corneal transplantation. He also diagnoses and treats other eye conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and keratoconus.

‘Partnering with Vision Eye Institute will allow us to take our clinical care to a new level,’ Dr Paul Athanasiov says. ‘Vision Eye Institute ensures all their practices and hospitals throughout Australia are of the highest standard regarding patient and staff safety.’

Mr Thiedeman adds, ‘We have worked with Paul for many years in our Windsor Gardens Day Surgery facility and this extension of our relationship represents a further opportunity to ensure Adelaide has access to the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies.’
