The Department of Health and Human Services in Victoria has clarified that people can still leave home and travel more than 5km to attend an urgent specialist consultation. Vision Eye Institute clinics in Melbourne remain open for urgent consultations. Our doctors will continue to offer telehealth consultations, where appropriate. All visitors (including patients and carers) are required to wear a face mask to gain entry into a Vision Eye Institute clinic or day surgery in Victoria.
NSW Health escalated the level of COVID-19 risk to moderate (Amber) from Friday 24 July. Vision Eye Institute now requires all health workers and visitors (including patients and carers) to wear a surgical mask to enter any NSW Vision Eye Institute site.

Following the latest advice from The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), we are encouraging all patients with existing eye conditions and/or new symptoms to seek attention from an eye care specialist.
In particular, patients with conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration are urged to prioritise their eye care appointments, since missed or delayed treatments can lead to irreversible vision loss.

If attending an appointment, you will be asked to read the information on the external signage and sign a declaration confirming that you meet all of the conditions prior to gaining entry.
As a further safety precaution, a number of our larger clinics have implemented a concierge service to screen patients before admitting them into the clinic.
Please do not attend your appointment if you reside with someone who is unwell or has been asked to quarantine.
Alcohol-based hand rub is available on arrival and all visitors are asked to clean their hands thoroughly on arrival. Please ensure you cover any coughs or sneezes with a tissue (and dispose of the tissue appropriately).
Each of our sites undertake regular cleaning of all surfaces, with ample supplies of hand sanitiser for staff and visitors.
