Coronavirus (COVID-19) Notice

COVID-19 Update

There are currently no Covid-related restrictions on our Brisbane locations. The Brisbane lockdown from 29 March 2021 does not apply to people who are obtaining medical care.

In keeping with advice from The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), we are encouraging all patients with existing eye conditions and/or new symptoms to seek attention from an eye care specialist. In particular, patients with conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration are urged to prioritise their eye care appointments, since missed or delayed treatments can lead to irreversible vision loss.

If you are concerned about leaving home, please be assured that protecting the health and wellbeing of our patients, carers, staff and doctors remains our top priority. All clinics and day surgeries will continue to observe strict infection control protocols and social distancing measures to ensure a safe environment for your medical care.

Please do not attend your appointment if you are unwell, have been asked to quarantine, or reside with someone who is unwell or has been asked to quarantine.

If you are attending an appointment, we ask that you:

  • Let us know prior to any scheduled appointment or surgery if you:
    • have returned from overseas travel in the last 14 days
    • have had contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
    • have worked or volunteered at a hotel quarantine site in the last 14 days
    • reside in (or have visited) a known high-risk area with a cluster of cases.
  • Only attend your appointment or surgery with a maximum of one carer.
  • Do not attend earlier than your appointment time.

If attending an appointment, you will be asked to read the information on the external signage and sign a declaration confirming that you meet all of the conditions prior to gaining entry. As a further safety precaution, a number of our larger clinics have implemented a concierge service to screen patients before admitting them into the clinic.

Alcohol-based hand rub is available on arrival and all visitors are asked to clean their hands thoroughly on arrival. Please ensure you cover any coughs or sneezes with a tissue (and dispose of the tissue appropriately). Each of our sites undertake regular cleaning of all surfaces, with ample supplies of hand sanitiser for staff and visitors.

We appreciate your assistance in ensuring we are able to safely meet the needs of our patients. As always, we will keep you informed of any further developments.

To contact us, please call your local Vision Eye Institute clinic or day surgery.

The information on this page is general in nature. All medical and surgical procedures have potential benefits and risks. Consult your ophthalmologist for specific medical advice.

IMPORTANT: If you are concerned about your eyes and require an urgent consultation, DO NOT use this form. Please call one of our clinics during office hours or contact your nearest emergency department.
