Western Eye Specialists joins forces with Vision Eye Institute

Vision Eye Institute has partnered with Western Eye Specialists to create the largest private ophthalmology clinic in Melbourne.

Consulting across three locations in Melbourne’s Western suburbs, Western Eye Specialists has been providing comprehensive eye care to local residents for over 30 years.

The partnership will take effect on 1 July, after which all patients of Western Eye Specialists’ Maribyrnong location will be seen at Vision Eye Institute’s state-of-the-art Footscray clinic. Patients attending Western Eye Specialists clinics in St Albans and East Melbourne will continue to have appointments at their usual clinic.

Vision Eye Institute Footscray is a newly refurbished clinic featuring a contemporary interior with 2 comfortable reception areas, 19 consulting rooms and 4 treatment rooms for minor procedures. It is also equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment.

The clinic is co-located with Footscray Day Surgery, meaning consultations and surgeries can take place at the same location for patient convenience and continuity of care.

Expansion of Footscray doctor team and services

Led by Dr John McKenzie, Principal Ophthalmologist, the Western Eye Specialists team of doctors brings decades of experience and an expansion to the services offered at the Footscray clinic.

In addition to his private practice, Dr McKenzie is Deputy Director of Ophthalmology at The Royal Children’s Hospital. He focuses his practice on cataract surgery and ocular oncology and is Head of Ophthalmology at Western Health and Head of Oncology at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
