Dr Helen Garrott is an internationally-trained ophthalmologist with over 15 years of experience. She specialises in reconstructive eye surgery (oculoplastics) including orbital surgery, complex tear duct surgery and the management of eyelid cancers. Dr Garrott is also a leading specialist in thyroid eye disease and offers medical and surgical treatments for the condition.
Dr Garrott received her ophthalmology training at world-leading hospitals including the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital in the UK.
In addition to the excellence in clinical care she provides, Dr Garrott continues to contribute to ophthalmology research, publishing a wide range of research papers in globally-acclaimed journals and delivering presentations at national and international ophthalmic conferences.
Dr Garrott is also involved in training the next generation of ophthalmologists. She teaches doctors at various stages of their careers and has written a book chapter on eye disorders.
Dr Garrott enjoys many hobbies and interests outside of her ophthalmic career. She has been playing squash at a national level since her university days and has run a half marathon. Dr Garrott is also an artist who has exhibited her paintings on various local art trails. She has sold several paintings.
Dr Garrott is committed to offering the most advanced and up-to-date clinical care for her patients as a frequent contributor and regular presenter at local and international ophthalmology conferences. She has an expansive research output dating back to 2003 and focuses primarily on oculoplastic surgery and thyroid eye disease.
Dr Garrott is also an organiser of leading ophthalmic annual meetings – including the South West Ophthalmic Society Meeting and the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society Annual Meeting – which provide clinicians with training and expertise on the newest research and treatment techniques.
