Dr Simone Beheregaray is a highly accomplished, FRANZCO-qualified ophthalmologist with a wealth of experience across research and clinical practice at national and international levels.
Dr Beheregaray’s impressive academic journey began with her outstanding performance at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, where she completed her medical degree. She later studied ophthalmology and earned recognition as a specialist by the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology. Dr Beheregaray was awarded the esteemed Monbukagakusho Scholarship, which enabled her to pursue a PhD degree from the University of Tsukuba in Japan. In 2015, she relocated to Australia.
Dr Beheregaray has undertaken additional fellowship training across various ophthalmic subspecialties, including glaucoma (Brazil), cornea (Sydney Eye Hospital) and cataract and refractive surgery (The Queen Elizabeth Hospital). She has also completed the Fred Hollows Fellowship at Lions Outback Vision, WA. This extensive training reflects Dr Beheregaray’s commitment to providing the latest advancements to her patients.
Her expertise encompasses cataract surgery (including the implantation of premium intraocular lenses), laser refractive surgery, ocular surface diseases, cornea-related disorders (including keratoconus and pterygium), crosslinking, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.
Dr Beheregaray’s dedication to her profession is further exemplified by her involvement with peer-reviewed publications and her public appointment at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
