We had a great night at the interactive Vision Eye Institute x Specsavers CPD event held at their Rundle Mall store, where 16 Specsavers optometrists from around South Australia split into two groups. These groups rotated through a session with Dr Soo Khai Ng presenting a series of interesting retinal cases and a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope (BIO) workshop with Dr Tiger Zhou. During the workshop, optometrists were able to refine their skills, with invaluable insight and tips from Dr Zhou.
It was an extremely busy quarter in Victoria! The VIC Clinical Relationships team hosted three onsite clinic CPD events and one offsite optometry event, as well as coordinating six workshops at the inaugural Optometry Clinical Conference at Melbourne Park.
These events attracted 272 optometrists and provided over 14 hours of quality assured CPD hours by Drs Uday Bhatt, Helen Garrott, Alex Ioannidis, Jack Kane, Lewis Levitz, Guy Olorenshaw, Raj Pathmaraj, Christolyn Raj, Joe Reich, Abi Tenen, Aaron Yeung, Brian Ang and Aifric Martin.
Topics included laser refractive surgery, laser wet lab, corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments (CAIRs), corneal crosslinking, cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, ICLs, general ophthalmology, gonioscopy workshop and a foreign body workshop.
Between July and September, the NSW Clinical Relationships team hosted five small group professional development events for optometrists and two events for GPs (totalling 100 attendees). Drs Colin Chan, Chris Go, Tess Huynh, Rushmia Karim, Michael Lawless, David Ng, Gerard Sutton and Michael Wei and Monica Lette from SeeWay provided optometrists with access to 8 hours of Optometry Australia Quality Assured CPD and GPs the opportunity for self-directed learning.
Topics included red eyes, dry eyes, refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, general ophthalmology, laser wet lab, implantable collamer lens (ICL) demonstration and retinal cases.
