Clinic facilities

Along with spacious waiting areas and modern patient amenities, our consulting rooms are fitted with state-of-the-art lasers and equipment to examine, diagnose and treat eye disease. Our technology includes:

  • Heidelberg Spectralis Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT) to aid in diagnosing and monitoring retinal conditions
  • Humphrey Field Analyser 3 for visual field testing in patients who have, or may have, glaucoma
  • Zeiss IOL Master 700 for ultrasound biometry prior to cataract surgery
  • Oculus Pentacam Corneal Topographer to diagnose and monitor corneal conditions

Clinic services

Our clinic provides services for a range of eye conditions, including those outlined below. After your initial consultation, our expert clinical team will be available to answer your questions and assist you in making an informed decision about your eye care.

Cataract surgery

Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed eye surgery in the world. It involves keyhole surgery to remove the cloudy lens, which is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (also called an IOL).

Eye specialist Dr Loane uses the latest technology to measure lens power (including the Zeiss IOLMaster 700 and the Zeiss Calisto operating microscope) and offers patients the latest Zeiss lenses to achieve excellent visual outcomes. Most of the time, he can help patients to get rid of their glasses.

Cataract surgery takes less than 30 minutes and is performed at RiverCity Private Hospital.

Combined cataract and glaucoma surgery

Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (e.g. iStent) improves fluid drainage from the eye. The procedure is combined with cataract surgery and performed in the on-site day surgery. Other types of glaucoma surgery (e.g. filtration surgery) are performed as day procedures under local anaesthesia at RiverCity Private Hospital.

Corneal procedures

Dr Loane, our experienced ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) in Brisbane, manages a range of conditions that affect the cornea and front of the eye, such as iritis, corneal ulcers, corneal erosion, corneal infections and pterygium (Surfer’s Eye). Some minor corneal treatments are carried out in our clinic consulting or treatment rooms, but most are performed at RiverCity Private Hospital.

Retinal procedures

Using the latest diagnostic equipment, Dr Loane can assess the health of a patient’s retina, and diagnose and monitor retinal conditions. Patients may need to be referred to a retinal specialist for retinal treatments or surgery.
